What are Cannabis Gummies?

Cannabis gummies are edible gummy sweets which have been infused with cannabis oil, THC, or CBD, to give users a convenient way of getting these cannabinoids in their system. The terms cannabis gummies, or weed gummies, tend to refer to the little sweets infused with THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in weed, but you can find gummies infused with CBD, to get the relaxation effects of cannabis without the high too.
You can usually find cannabis gummy products in many formats, including weed gummy bears, and they will come in different strengths. You’ll also be able to find them in many different flavours, so they don’t all taste like weed!

Are Weed Gummies Right for Me?

So, are cannabis gummy bears right for you?
There are a few reasons that people chose CBD, cannabis, and THC gummies. First and foremost, they are a discreet and convenient way to consume cannabis without having to roll a joint. You can get your daily dose with just a few gummies and be on your way.
If you’re not a fan of the flavour or smell of weed itself, then shop-bought or homemade gummies may also be right for you. You can usually find them infused with all sorts of fruit flavours, like lime juice and blackcurrant, to make them as tasty as they are medicinal!

Can I Make Weed Gummies at Home?

Yes, you can make your own cannabis gummies at home. Below we have summarised the process for making cannabis gummies.
Decarboxylate cannabis: To make your cannabis active, you need to heat it. You should grind up some cannabis and put it in the oven on some baking paper. Set the temperature to 105–120 degrees celsius and leave it for about 30–45 minutes.
Once your cannabis is active, you need to mix about 3.5 grams of it with a cup of coconut oil and simmer together for about three hours. Almost all cannabis gummies use infused coconut oil.
Next, you should mix half a cup of the cannabis-infused oil with half a cup of water and half a tsp of soy/sunflower lecithin. You need to stir until the mixture has fully melted and has a consistent texture.
From here, you need to add in 2 tbsp of unflavored gelatin, or find a flavoured gelatin you like and use this. Stir constantly and keep on low heat for 10–15 minutes while the gelatin dissolves. It must not boil.
Strain the mixture to catch any lumps of undissolved gelatin and then use a dropper to fill up your gummy moulds. You need to do this quickly so that the mixture doesn’t cool before it gets into the gummy bear mould.
Once the mould is full, you need to freeze them for 20–25 minutes.
There are many, many recipes online for making your own weed gummies, and this is just one of them. Do your research to find the one that suits you best and try experimenting with flavoured gelatin and other methods to spice up your own edibles.

Benefits of At-Home Gummies

While it can be done, making cannabis gummies at home takes time, effort, and ingredients like coconut oil which you might not have at home. So what is the point and why do people choose to make cannabis gummies at home?
Well, firstly, it is likely to save you money in the long run. Infused gummies can get costly and so stocking up on your own can be more cost-effective if you’re using gummies every single day. It is also more environmentally friendly as you’re throwing away fewer plastic containers!
Though the process takes a while at first, you will get quicker and it involves making your own cannabis-infused oil. Once you have this process down, you’ll be a master of making cannabis oil at home and can use these oils in a variety of ways. Indeed, cannabis oils can be added to balms for topical uses as well as consumed.
You also get to choose the flavour if you make cannabis gummies at home. While there is a lot of variety now, you can make your own in a variety of flavours and even experiment with flavour combinations.
Lastly, cannabis edibles are much more convenient than smoking weed. If you’re in a rush, you can just grab one of your homemade edibles and be on your way without needing to grind weed and roll a joint.

Other Ways to Consume Cannabis

If gummies aren’t your thing, have no fear, there are many other ways to consume cannabis available here at Qunubu and other weed dispensaries in Canada.
The most common way to consume weed is to inhale or smoke it. This can be done by smoking joints, using cannabis vape pens, like this BLKMKT rosin disposable pen in peanut butter flavour, and more. You can purchase cannabis flower products suitable for different ailments or needs too.
In addition, you can consume cannabis through tinctures and infusions. A cannabis tincture, like this THC oil from Good Supply, can be taken sublingually, or added to smoothies and your morning coffee. You can also find other edibles and beverages infused with cannabis and cannabinoids.
